Summary:
The Medical/Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for answering incoming calls, directing calls to the appropriate staff, greeting and checking in all patients for appointments, assisting patients in filling out paperwork, entering all demographic information into the electronic medical record (EMR), scanning insurance cards, verifying insurance benefits, scanning documentation into patient records, and working closely with medical staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Greets and directs all patients within the practice Obtains and verifies patient demographic data and insurance information at each visit Obtains necessary patient information to meet current Federal and State guidelines, including HIPAA and privacy practices acknowledgements Obtains patient authorization for release of medical records Scans pertinent patient information into the EMR, including but not limited to patient authorizations, outside laboratory and diagnostic test results, and referral documentation Schedules initial consultation and follow-up appointments Completes appointment reminder phone calls two days prior to patient's appointment date/time Accurately transcribes phone messages for providers Maintains cleanliness of waiting room Other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Minimum of a High School Diploma Certificate or Associates Degree preferred At least 6 months of relevant experience and/or training EMR experience preferred Bilingual preferred QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to multi-task Strong organizational skills Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as work as a team and accept direction on given assignments Job Type:
